In China, she has taught at Jimsar No. 2 Middle School and Urumqi No. 11 Senior High School. She also worked for a year as a Confucius Institute Teacher at Kyrgyzstan National University.

Before coming to Buffalo, Shuping Song taught Chinese as a foreign language at the Second Foreign Language School Affiliated with Shanghai Normal University. She previously taught English at Daqiao Foreign Language School in Changchun, China, and in 2012-13 was a Confucius Institute teacher at Dong-A University in Busan, South Korea. She holds a Master’s degree in Chinese International Education from Northeast Normal University in Changchun.
