Two-week Summer Language Study Program in Beijing, July 7-20, 2019

The University at Buffalo Confucius Institute (UBCI) is pleased to announce a short-term study program in China for current and former Chinese language students at the University at Buffalo and UBCI. Students at other universities in New York State are also eligible, if space is available.

The two-week program will be hosted by Capital Normal University (CNU) in Beijing and involve Chinese language and culture classes at CNU, sightseeing in Beijing, and an excursion to another historic city (to be determined) in China.

The program will be led by Professor Yongbo Tian, lecturer in the Chinese Language Program at UB.

Costs
The costs for tuition, meals, accommodations, domestic transportation in China, and most sightseeing activities will be paid by Capital Normal University. Participants are responsible for international airfare, Chinese visa, travel insurance and incidental costs.

Travel
Participants are expected to arrive in Beijing on flights that are within a timeframe selected by CNU. Note that to arrive in Beijing on Sunday, July 7, participants will need to leave the U.S. on Saturday, July 6.
All participants are expected to stay with the program for the entire two-week period.

Accommodations
Participants will stay in modern dormitories for international students on the CNU campus.

Eligibility
Participants must (1) be non-Chinese citizens who have studied Chinese for at least 3 months and (2) have graduated from high school at the time of application.

Students who have participated in a previous Confucius Institute short-term summer program are not eligible. Previous Confucius Institute scholarship winners are eligible to participate.

In order to get a Chinese visa, participants must have a passport valid until at least August 1, 2020.

This program is pending final approval by Hanban/Confucius Institute Headquarters and a minimum enrollment of 15 participants.
