Chinese Bridge for Educators Study Tour

October 6, 2018 @ 8:00 am - October 14, 2018 @ 5:00 pm

Overview
This Chinese Bridge program gives K-12 educators in Western New York an opportunity to experience China and its education system first-hand. The program aims to help superintendents, principals and other education administrators learn more about China and encourage the development of Chinese language programs in their schools.

The delegation will visit schools and meet with teachers and administrators in Beijing and Xi’an, as well as explore some of China’s most famous tourist sites—the Great Wall, Forbidden City, Terracotta Warriors, and much more.

Organization
This Chinese Bridge program is organized by the University at Buffalo Confucius Institute and our partner in Beijing, Capital Normal University. UBCI will coordinate international travel and visa applications and conduct orientations. CNU will
host the delegation in Beijing and arrange the tour to Xi’an.

Costs
All hotels, meals, and transportation in China will be paid by Confucius Institute Headquarters. Participants pay for international airfare, Chinese visa, travel insurance, and incidental costs.

Travel
For travelers’ convenience, participants can purchase airfare on a designated flight from Buffalo through Raptim International. All participants are expected to travel with the delegation until the end of the program on October 14. Participants may stay in China following the program at their own expense.

Accommodations
Single occupancy accommodations in three or four-star hotels will be provided.

Eligibility
Participants must be currently employed at a public or private school or serving on a school board, and not have participated in a Chinese Bridge delegation for at least three years.

Priority will be given to:

  1. administrators with oversight or policy roles for Chinese language programs.
  2. administrators in schools or districts that are considering establishing a Chinese language program.

Participants must have a U.S. passport valid until at least October 6, 2019.
