2021 Conference and Symposia Call for Proposals

The University at Buffalo Confucius Institute (UBCI) invites funding proposals from UB faculty who would like to organize a China-related symposium or conference in calendar year 2021. Funding amounts vary according to the scope of the project and availability of other funding sources. The proposals will be reviewed by a UBCI committee.

Successful applicants must acknowledge the UB Confucius Institute in all advertising for the event, media reports or publications resulting from the project.

Proposals should include:
1. Project narrative (no more than 1,000 words)
2. Budget, including overall costs, other sources of funding, and requested UBCI funds

Examples of expenses UBCI CAN fund
Domestic airfare
Modest honorarium for non-SUNY participants
Hotel accommodations for participants outside of Western NY
Venue and tech support costs
Moderately-priced refreshments, reception, or meal associated with the symposium/conference
(Funding for food should be no more than 1/3 of the total request to UBCI)

Examples of expenses UBCI CANNOT fund
International airfare
Alcoholic beverages
Gifts and awards
